We respectfully request the Lincoln County School District to allocate 1 to 2 acres of the proposed community space, what is currently the Waldport High School on Lower Crestline Drive, for the purpose of an off-leash, fenced dog park.

There are numerous benefits to a community dog park, a few of which are:

-They allow dogs to exercise and socialize safely.

-Engaging citizens with common interests builds community.

-Promotes responsible dog ownership.

-Well exercised dogs are happier and less likely to become a nuisance.

-Dog owners who pay local taxes and dog licensing fees, especially, should have an opportunity to create and maintain a space for their pets.

-Tourists often look at what amenities are available for their pets. Waldport does a great job of welcoming newcomers, and that should include the family dog.
