Boyd opted not to defer this case to the adult courts and ruled in favor of Couch's defense who said their client was not responsible for his actions due to "affluenza." Boyd's ruling sends a clear signal that the affluent do not have to abide by the same laws as the less affluent which makes her unfit to sit on the bench.
