From Nelson Jacobsen: We had the right stance and didn't make it about anything other then the petition's task of getting an apology.

On Wednesday, October 02, Randy Neugebauer, a United States Representative (R-TX), rudely and publicly rebuked a U.S. Park Service Ranger for carrying out orders to close the World War II National Memorial, run by the NPS in Washington, DC.  The Texas Representative proved a strong lack of understanding about how public law and the government's reach into every aspect of our society work by incorrectly interfering in the duties of his fellow public employee.  We are asking for Rep. Neugebauer to correct his misstep and publicly apologize to the U.S. Park Service Ranger for his obtuse and disrespectful comments.#apologizerandy

"How do you look at them and... deny them access?" said Neugebauer.

"It's difficult," responded the Park Service employee.

"Well, it should be difficult," replied the congressman, who was carrying a small American flag in his breast pocket.

"It is difficult," responded the Park Service employee. "I'm sorry, sir."

"The Park Service should be ashamed of themselves," the congressman said.

"I'm not ashamed," replied the ranger.

It seems that Rep Neugebauer will be attending an event in couple of days Oct 17th and if we can get this to 5000 it could just get a reporter to ask him when he is going to apologize to the U.S. Park Service Ranger.

    3. Have no clue what happened to 1500 plus signners

So many of you are aware that on Monday we passed the 5000 mark and no sooner did that happen then it appears the number of signees was reduced by 1600. Not sure what happened however I'm this happy people are responding to the need for this official to apologize for really bad behavior.

The nonprofit organization Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, or CREW, wants an ethics investigation of U.S. Rep. Randy Neugebauer, R-Texas, claiming the congressman violated House of Representatives rules when he berated a National Park Service ranger who was “just doing her job” guarding the shuttered World War II memorial.

    5. Lubbockonline.com seems to suggest that Rep Neugebauer did good?

      Nelson Jacobsen

While trying to see what the local papers where saying about this incident I was surprised to see one outlet describe this whole event like he did something good.

"In the video, Neugebauer questions the ranger about denying veterans access to war memorials.“It’s difficult,” the ranger says".

Really! I'd say questioned from a tired, hungry preschooler.

A so-called "man" who as a U.S. Rep, was a responsible party in this shut down had the appalling audacity to publically blame and attempt to shame a park services employee who could not do her job because of HIM. In what realm of reality would that be acceptable?

Neugeberger should resign immediately. He disgraced the House by showing disrespect to a hard working person who was not getting a check. She was respectful doing her job, he was not.

It's gone too far! These are ELECTED individuals (e.g., public servants) and they are paid to do a job for us-not them!

How would you like it if I came to your house and chewed out your kids for not letting me in?
