Makers.com’s website and film, which claims to feature women who brought about positive change for women in this country since the mid-sixties, includes Phyllis Schlafly as a “Groundbreaker.” Phyllis Schlafly was not and is not a groundbreaker for women. She fought tooth and nail for decades to stop any advances for women and continues to do so. Some even credit her with stopping ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). Calling Schlafly a groundbreaker for women is like calling George Wallace a groundbreaker for civil rights.
