As supporters of the historic Lower East Side, we urge the Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) to calendar the historic (former) H. Nieberg Funeral Home, at 139-141 Ludlow Street, a building deserving of designation as an individual landmark of the City of New York.

As a distinctive commercial building, 139-141 Ludlow Street's remarkable Gothic-inspired terra-cotta façade, and its place within the cultural heritage of the Lower East Side, warrants protection as a New York City individual landmark.   We ask the LPC to honor a cultural and architectural treasure unmatched in the Lower East Side or in the city of New York.
