National Football League: Educate San Francisco 49er Chris Culliver on his hurtful remarks about Gay athletes
The Issue
"I don't do the gay guys man," Culliver said. "I don't do that. No, we don't got no gay people on the team, they gotta get up out of here if they do... Can't be with that sweet stuff. Nah... can't be... in the locker room man. Nah."
Chris Culliver is a member of the National Football League and a role model to young people. We must educate him that someones sexual orientation doesn't affect their ability to play sports. The NFL should send Culliver to spend a day with the New York Gay Football League. This will give him an opportunity to see that openly Gay players perform just as well as heterosexual players. It will also allow him to ask questions and speak with members of the team.
Wade Davis, out former NFL player says "The comments made by Chris Culliver, SF 49ers cornerback, were hurtful and inflammatory but I also believe that Chris understands how painful that his words were. The NY Gay Football league wants to give Chris the opportunity to spend some time with gay athletes that love the NFL and game of football, as well as help to change perceptions about the LGBTQ community and give back in a meaningful and impactful way."
