The Miami Beach Community Church on Lincoln Road was built by Carl Fisher for his wife Jane Fisher. It was designed by Florida's first registered architect, Walter DeGarmo. A developer now plans to partner with the church in order to redevelop the courtyard of the church into a 3-level retail building. This will block views of the church, eliminate one of the last remaining open spaces on Lincoln Road, and negatively impact the overall scale of the most historic church compound in Miami Beach.

We believe that the Community Church has been a vital part of Miami Beach and that it should continue serving the community. For this reason, the church lot could be developed. However, the preferred location of any building should be behind the church - as long as it does not impact residents to the South of the Church. This way, the open courtyard remains a special place on Lincoln Road for generations to come.
