Justice for Robert Saylor

The Issue

Robert Saylor, 26, of New Market, Md., was asphyxiated on Jan. 12 and his death has been declared a homicide by the medical examiner. Robert had Down syndrome and refused to leave a movie theater, as he wanted to watch a movie a second time. Three off-duty deputies were called to help with his removal from the theater, which led to his death. All three have been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation.

The Sheriffs may face a conflict of interest when investigating their own deputies; therefore, we ask that an outside agency take a look at the case.

There is no reason for a person with special needs to be treated with such force.
