Call for 'Sarah's Law'
The Issue
It always seems to take a death to make change.
On February 20th 2014, Sarah Jones lost her life doing the job she loved - being a Camera Assistant on a movie set. At only 27 years old, Sarah's death could have been avoided if there was a 'Spotter' designated to watch for coming trains. I would like to call a petition to create a new rule for when filming on or around live train tracks - Whenever there is done near a train track, in addition to a train representative being on set, a 'Train Spotter' should also be hired. This person will be tasked with the job of finding a good advantage to watch for trains in both directions, and have direct contact with the crew, to warn them of expected trains, or worse, unexpected ones. This rule should be made into law and be named in honor of Sarah, 'Sarah's Law'.
