Oppose Tigers in Residential Neighborhoods - Malibu/Ventura, CA.

    1. Petition by

      No Tigers in Malibu

Wild tigers are a threat to our safety and serenity.  Captive tigers often escape during transport, cleaning or feeding, or during natural disasters.  When they do escape, tigers follow their natural instincts, maiming and killing.

By my signature below, I oppose PL13-0011 and the effort to house 5 tigers - wild animals for commercial use for filming at 11077 Pacific View Road, Malibu, California 90265, a residential neighborhood.

      Letter: Keep tigers out

Yesterday the big news reached us that a family of tiger-lovers wants to bring their beloved 1,000-pound creatures into our wonderfully serene neighborhood. I would like to point out what happened a few years ago in Moorpark, where a tiger got out, probably because of human error, and hundreds of personnel went on an official tiger hunt in Ventura county, until somebody finally shot the poor animal in the Santa Monica Mountains.

    5. IFAW Article - Big Cats

It’s a public safety issue. In just the past two decades, dangerous incidents involving captive big cats in the U.S. have resulted in the deaths of 22 people (including 5 children); and over 200 additional humans have been mauled or injured.

      Big cats in captivity

It's inhumane. Most captive big cats are kept where they shouldn't be: backyards and basements, on farms and ranches, in garages and sheds. Private owners who acquire big cats as cubs are often not able to manage them once they're fully grown.

Absolutely stupid to consider housing tigers in residential neighborhood. These animals are wild creatures and not ours to use for entertainment or other human selfish & cruel purposes.

It's a matter of life and death! Wild beasts do not belong in the residential neighborhoods under any condition.
