Free Majd and Abdelateef Obeid

The Issue

We write as four international activists who were arrested on false charges at a demonstration in the village of Kufr Qaddoum in the Israeli-occupied West Bank on the 21st of September.

Following our arrest we spent two days in prison and seven days under house arrest. We were released because a judge in a civilian court decided that the testimony of the Israeli soldiers against us was doubtful.

Majd and Abdelateef Obeid, two Palestinian brothers, were arrested on the same day as us, from their home in Kufr Qaddoum. They have had the same accusations levelled at them, by the same soldiers.

However, unlike us, they are currently still in prison, awaiting a military court hearing on Monday 15th October. At this hearing they are likely to be sentenced to 4 to 6 months imprisonment, based merely on the verbal evidence of just one soldier.

We want to tell the judge in the military court that Majd and Abdelateef should not be convicted on evidence that has already been deemed doutbful in a civilian court.

Please sign this petition to express your support for Majd and Abdelateef's freedom. We will deliver the petition signatures to the judge at the hearing on Monday the 15th October.

For further details about Majd and Abdelateef's arrest, see the International Solidarity Movement report here.
