The libel suit by Edwin Mellen Press against Dale Askey, a university librarian, for expressing his professional opinion about the quality of Edwin Mellen publications is an egregious assault on academic freedom. At this writing, March 8, 2013, the joint libel suit against Askey and McMaster University has been dropped.  However, the lawsuit by the Press against Askey still stands.  Please stand with Askey and ask Edwin Mellen Press to drop the second lawsuit against him.   News items on this petition site chart the history of this case.
