Restore the buildings at the Athens Asylum and maintain them for posterity

The Issue

The buildings of the Athens Asylum belong to all the people of Athens County and Ohio. The primary buildings were built in 1868 and are a tribute to all the people who worked there and were patients there. These buildings are architectural masterpieces and historically significant. The Athens Asylum is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. We understand that you are planning to tear down many of these buildings. Please stop all plans for demolition and work with the Athens County Historical Society and Museum to find alternatives for reuse of the buildings. Save the Athens Asylum!
