Citizens of Upper Market, San Francisco: prevent Chipotle moving into Church and Market

The Issue

The Castro has long been free of chain restaurants and store fronts, and is, in our opinion, the better for it.  Chipotle, with 9 extant locations in San Francisco and 1430 locations worldwide (all of which are company owned /not/ franchised, and whose profits thus return to the company and it's investors rather than local entrepeneurs) clearly qualifies as a chain.

As business owners and residents of the Castro & Upper Market areas, we are optimistic about the urban renewal occurring in our neighborhood.  We feel that the prominent placement of such a large chain restaurant sets an unfortunate precedent.  Please protect the Castro's and the Upper Market area's unique culture and prevent Chipotle from opening it's 10th SF location at Church and Market.
