From Petition Creator Colleen Minton: Last night the CHCCS School Board voted and made it official with the resolution that the School Board "reaffirms its commitment to the Chinese Dual Language program with one track at Glenwood next year and directs administration to develop plans for the long-term success of the program with the continued work on the Board priority around second language instruction." Thank you for your support and signing the petition!

To continue to offer children in our Chapel Hill/Carrboro community the opportunity to obtain the best public education by producing globally competitive students with 21st Century skills, including dual language proficiency, and respect and appreciation for cultural and ideological diversity and differences. Chinese is the most spoken language in the world and should be a key component in the district's plans for educating our students.

My wife is a high school Spanish teacher so we appreciate its expansion but we are both studying Mandarin because it is becoming globally important.

I support continuing the Chinese-English program for our children and country''s future. We will continue to have close relations with China, and it is important to have people who understand the language, people and culture. I think that expanding one program at the expense of another is just wrong and counter productive.
