According to lawyers from the North Carolina Press Association, the evidence room audit is a public record. For months, District Attorney Ron Moore has not responded to repeated open records requests.

Moore's actions are not in compliance with either state law or the practices of transparent government that citizens deserve from their elected officials, especially those charged with upholding the law. As citizens who believe in an open government, we call on Moore to release the results of the evidence room audit and help restore public trust.
