Parkville High School has been a staple of our community since its opening in 1953. With the exception of a new 6-lane track, our football field and "stadium" facilities are among the worst in Baltimore County. Yet, those facilities are more widely used than any other in Baltimore County. A few hundred members of the community, as well as, grade schools, church groups and our armed forces use our facilities every single day for health and fitness activities. Our field is known around the county as the "dust bowl" and rightfully so considering we have more dirt and rocks than grass. This is a safety issue for anyone using the field, especially our student athletes. If there were an emergency, such as heat exhaustion or heat stress, the nearest water supply is more than a quarter mile away inside the athletic training room of the school. Yates field does not have a concession stand, resulting in lost revenue for our Athletic Department. The few baseball style bleachers at our field hinder an enjoyable experience for parents and fans attending an athletic event. Grandstand style seating would provide a more enjoyable viewing experience and ensure a safe environment for all those in attendance. Upgrading our facilities would also allow Parkville High School to host tournaments, invitational track meets and ceremonies. We are not asking for the best facilities in the county. We are simply asking to have the same quality facilities that the surrounding Baltimore County Public Schools have had for two decades. https://www.facebook.com/ParkvilleStadium
