For almost four years the Sudanese activist Abu al-Qasim Ibrahim al-Haj has been imprisoned in Qanatir prison in Cairo Egypt unlawfully and the Egyptian authorities are refusing to let go of him despite calls from several human rights organisations . Abu al-qasim was arrested among others in January 10,2010 by Egyptian Security forces when he was detained in their headquarter in Cairo where he was subjected to torture and violations of his basic human rights. In April 2010, he was trialed before a military court on false accusation of helping African infiltrators of Israeli-Egyptian border. Abu al-Qasim and his colleagues were acquitted by the court, but the Egyptian security refused to set the free in spite of the court decision.

Abu al Qasim is known opponent of the ruling regime in his country -Sudan- and if deported there from Egypt, he will face even worse and inhumane treatment.
