Let's have a People's green park at Kampung Attap
The Issue
Kampung Attap, an old quarter in the middle of CDB ( Centre District of Business) , should have a reserved green. As public is invited to give feedback on the Kuala Lumpur Structure Plan 2040 (KLSP2040) , we currently have a unique opportunity to address this and it’s now or never!
At the heart of Kampung Attap , there is a piece of forest currently reserved for the police used is less than 5 minutes’ walk from Maharajalela monorail station and in the middle of Jalan Choo Cheng Khay neighbourhood . It is an ideal location for a green park that could truly transform our city’s landscape.
Beside a green park, this piece of undeveloped land can be used for suitable activities like community gardening and so on so forth.
This petition presents an ideal match with KLSP 2040's vision , Kuala Lumpur a " CITY FOR ALL" by connecting the neighbourhood to one large area of open and green space.
Parks like the one we are proposing provide the lungs and fresh air for a city and are good for both the private and public purse. In particular they improve our physical and mental health, promote social cohesion, improve biodiversity, reduce pollution and provide a site for open-air events.
Kuala Lumpur would be an attractive and more beautiful city by providing it with more recreational options, by integrating existing open space, undeveloped government agency's lands with green walkways , it would activating these areas with new functionality.
This petition would be submitted to Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) as part of its Kuala Lumpur Structure Plan 2040 Public feedback.
