ハワイ島の、あの壮大な星空や火山、優しい自然やローカルのぬくもり
「また行きたい」「いつか行ってみたい」
そんな声が、いまたくさん届いています。

でも今、日本からハワイ島へ行くには、ホノルルでの長い乗り継ぎが必要になってしまいました。
「到着が夕方で観光できなかった」
「乗り継ぎで疲れてしまって滞在をあきらめた」
そんな声も少なくありません。

ハワイ島に直行便が戻れば、1日分まるごと有効に使えます。
ご年配の方も、小さなお子様連れのファミリーも、もっと気軽にハワイ島へ来られるようになります。

私たちは、ハワイ島と日本をもう一度つなぐ「直行便」の復活を願い、署名活動をはじめました。
観光地を守り、ツアーやレストランなど地元の人たちの仕事を支えるだけでなく、
日本とハワイ島の文化・心のつながりを未来へつなぐことができると信じています

── Bring Back Direct Flights to Hawai‘i Island ──

🌸 Japan Is Closer Than You Think!
— With the return of direct flights, Japan is no longer a “distant” destination —

“I want to visit Japan, but the long transfer in Honolulu is just too much...”
“I’m getting older — I don’t think I can handle such a long journey...”
“I miss my relatives in Japan, but I’m worried about the travel.”

These are just a few of the voices we’ve heard from our Hawaiʻi Island community.

But the truth is…
✅ Japan is now more affordable than ever!
✅ It’s safe, full of delicious food, peaceful cities, and relaxing hot springs!
✅ With the weak yen, a trip to Japan can actually be more budget-friendly than expected!

And if the direct flight between Kona and Narita returns:
✈️ No need for exhausting transfers in Honolulu
✈️ Fly straight from Hawaiʻi Island to Japan!
✈️ Safe and comfortable for seniors and families with children

 
If you’ve ever said “I want to visit Japan again…”
This is your chance to help make it easier.

This petition is a heartfelt initiative in support of bringing back direct flights to Hawaiʻi Island in 2026.

Currently, the runway at Kona Airport is under repair, and Japan Airlines has understandably been unable to make a final decision regarding the resumption of service. However, thanks to the swift and professional work of specialists, the project remains on schedule. The full completion is expected between March and April 2026, with the runway repairs themselves projected to finish between October and November 2025. These developments give us hope for the full return of international service by the summer of 2026.

The connection between Japan and Hawaiʻi Island dates back over 150 years. More and more local Nikkei residents here are finding the time to visit Japan each year—or dreaming of doing so. Likewise, many fans of Hawaiʻi Island in Japan are expressing their deep desire to see the return of direct flights.

Although an international terminal was completed at Kona Airport in 2020, it has unfortunately remained largely unused due to the pandemic.

Now, we believe it is time to revive this important route that connects people and cultures between Japan and Hawaiʻi. I plan to bring this petition to Japan Airlines as a show of strong community support, and I would be deeply grateful for your encouragement and signature.
