THE STORY
Mr. Lok Man Singh Karki is the Chief of Commission on Investigation of Abuse of Authority in Nepal and is currently sought by the Supreme Court of Nepal for a trail regarding his unconstitutional appointment, repeated abuse of authority and Contempt of Court.
Mr. Karki visited Canada for an Anti-Corruption Conference and has not reported back to Nepal. He has been extending his personal leave time and delaying the legal process intentionally.
Although the social media is flooded with news regarding repeated failed attempts to summon him for a trial of a reopened Case at the Supreme Court of Nepal, Mr. Karki has himself and through his influence refused to accept the legal notice and threatening Supreme Court Staff to post the notice at his premises in the capital city. After 3rd attempt and disappearance of 2 paper servers, the Trial Notice has been finally posted "pasted" on the wall of one of his residences.
On Oct 18, it was reported that Mr. Karki extended his personal leave by 10 more days from Canada.
What Mr. Karki is involved in is a sheer disrespect for the Rule of Law, disregards and disrespect to the Rule of Law and operating a parallel government and making a mockery of law and order. Before reinstatement of democracy in 2006, Mr. Karki was found guilty of oppression, persecution of civilians by a Constitutional Commission. The case which seeks Mr. Karki to be present will examine his qualifications for the CIAA position. Additionally Mr. Karki is also subject matter of a Parliamentary Impeachment, which is gaining support of lawmakers everyday to table it formally against him. The constitution requires at least 3 lawmakers to start the Impeachment proposal.
As such it is extremely important that Mr. Karki respect and uphold the Rule of Law and cooperate to institutionalize Democracy, Law and Order and People's will in Nepal.
Furthermore, it is extremely important that no nation permit such gross Human Rights Violators, Perpetrators, International War Criminals and help restore people's faith in democracy and rule of law.
