ZONING MATTERS -- PROTECT THE FUTURE OF NORMANSIDE
The Issue
BETHLEHEM RESIDENTS PETITION
PROTECT THE FUTURE OF NORMANSIDE
We, the undersigned, petition the Town of Bethlehem to ban residential development of the Normanside golf course, and to update its zoning code to Commercial Recreation.
We also petition the Town of Bethlehem to update its zoning code for the following three properties that, along with Normanside, were zoned Commercial Recreation in the Town’s 2019 draft Comprehensive Plan: Magee Park, Hidden Meadows, and Efrim’s Sports.
The beauty of the Normanside property has long been recognized by town residents, first as farmland and then as a golf course that was established in 1927. Its open landscape provides extraordinary recreation benefits for golfers, winter sledders, skiers, walkers, joggers, as well as a valuable habitat for a multitude of wildlife.
These social and environmental benefits are invaluable to both current residents and future generations residing in Bethlehem and should be preserved and protected from residential development by a Commercial Recreation code.
