I had the privilege of being invited to Parliament House to speak passionately about choking prevention, the work we are doing through ZaZa’s Legacy, and the importance of education, awareness, and emergency choking devices like LifeVac, few months ago

It was an honour to be welcomed by Liam Staltari, Opposition shadow minister for Education, and Libby Mettam deputy leader shadow minister for Health

What made that day so powerful was knowing that real conversations are happening. Conversations about how we can better protect our kids. Conversations about prevention. Conversations about whether one day, devices like this could potentially be available in schools across WA as an extra layer of emergency protection when every second counts.

As a father who has lived the unimaginable, this is bigger than politics to me. I’ve always said this is bipartisan — because choking does not discriminate, and protecting children should never depend on political sides.

Importantly, LifeVac is NOT a replacement for first aid or CPR. First aid always comes first. These devices are designed only as a last resort if standard choking protocols fail.

Walking through Parliament that day was emotional. Knowing that ZaZa’s story, his legacy, and our mission are being heard in the very place where decisions and change can happen… that meant everything.

If sharing our pain can help save even one life, then we keep going.
