Reinstate Comment Section on CarmoDance YouTube
The Issue
Hey Dance Community!
As many of you have likely seen in recent weeks, YouTube has put out a new effort to "protect" minors by disabling the comment sections on YouTube channels that feature minors. This is part of an overreaction on their part to a very small group of people on the internet leaving unsavory comments. (This happens on all types of channels - not just channels with kids).

YouTube's less than helpful statement on the issue:

This is act is extraordinarily discriminatory as it is not happening evenly across the board, it is happening to all videos with no warning (even videos with no minors, but just because your channel happened to have minors in other videos)
It appears YouTubers that have children in their videos BUT have millions of followers or corporate backing are not being hit by this act. To me, and many other smaller YouTubers, this is far from fair.
Additionally, YouTube Support has made themselves scarce during this new wave of disabling comments, by being hard to reach and if you do reach them, you only receive copy and paste answers as opposed to being able to truly discuss and work on the issue.
Sadly this act has hit the dance community more than others as dance is something done by people of all ages!
When it comes to my channel, the dancers, parents and dance fans are happy to have the comment section available to compliment and discuss the dance they just watched. All parents of minors have given consent and can easily have their video taken down, have their comment section turned off, or even have any comment removed if they wish. This is usually not the case though. Most of my comment sections are positive and I work as hard as one person can at monitoring the comments on my thousands of videos.
If you would like to see comments once again enabled on CarmoDance, I urge you to sign this petition! It might not do anything, but you never know!
