The parents of Pulaski are not in favor of changing our current school hours. While the district may benefit financially, the cost and disruption that this would cause to the families would be a burden.
The majority of parents are working a 9am to 5pm work day, and these schedules will not change. In order to accommodate an early release time, many parents would have to pay for additional childcare and arrangements for pickups, which would create a financial burden for the families.
Additionally,we worry about the safety of the children as they will be waiting for their buses before sunrise, their lack of sleep and how their grades will be affected.
Finally,there is no clear indication of how the money saved will benefit our school. It is difficult to support this with no clear indication of what the funds will be used for.
The parents of Pulaski children understand the need to increase the budget and resources, but feel that the benefit does not outweigh the burden this proposed change of hours would cause.
