LETTER: PLEASE DON'T CHARGE FOR EXERCISE CLASSES

Value added amenities are good for everyone, not just those who use them. In other words, I don't play tennis but the fact that tennis courts are there add value. How many people swim in the pools? Probably 10%. Why have three pools? (Pools certainly cost money to run.) Because it adds value to our property.

If you disincentive the very qualities that add value to your institution, especially when they are issues that involve the health and well being of the residents, you cast a shadow over the very reason YARCOBR  is all about. It's like you're chipping away at the heart and soul of YARCOBR.

I feel that the exercise classes should remain free and alternative solutions explored.

One suggestion would be to cut only one class weekly and replace it with a video led class. In my small town we have video led exercise classes twice weekly at our community center at no charge. Start with one very small change.

For many years a woman named Helen led the Sunday exercise class as a volunteer. Perhaps there's a new person who would volunteer for one day a week.

Timing is everything, the saying goes. With our HOA costs going up this is not the time to charge for a beloved amenity.
