I've bought this VSTi for over IDR 1 Million (yes, Rp 1 Juta+)!!!

What's the matter with this one? Why buy this one?

Yes. Because Yamaha still not getting any progress in this regard, let's give a try on the Roland side, just for this review, you know.

Now, If you want to buy this, it's available on Roland Cloud app, here website. You can insert credit card you sto.. no don't steal. Don't worry, it has option to buy one VSTi permanently, yey! That's what I did.

To test this, I'll be using FalcoSoft Soundfont MIDI Player. Hey, btw, the new version already out. That's right, you should update it if you haven't already.

Now for the MIDI file, we're going to use SomethingUnreal's SC88Pro MIDIs, (alt) because these MIDIs are dedicated for his beloved Roland SC88Pro real thing. Yep, he has it, had a great sound at that time & isn't a tin can like every Windows has. Check out his YouTube Channel. Thancc, Robbi-985! Awesome div by zero!!!

Let's go.

First, I'm going to call out its weaknesses. Yeah, it sounds pretty much similar with the real SC series, but I shall point out something missing about this.

Figure 1. When I tried the song BPKM (Kill Me Baby ED), It shows that it lacks the picture Canvas. What I mean is, that Sound level underneath the text supposedly animates just like the real SC deck. come, take a look at this. See?! Where is that thing?! nada!!

Figure 2. Further proven with second image, not even the text e.g. with YMMD. Yep, disappointingly it does not support that cool stuffs at all, just audio & authentic FX. Look at this video here. It's ironic, coz FalcoSoft MIDI Player even at least shows Text Canvas on the Lyric window left there, OMEGALUL, like what the peck?! Also, that you see, most SC88Pro MIDIs have proprietary reset of SC88. Yep, it's that own reset instead of open standard of GS. Well, the FalcoSoft or idk, keeps falling back to GS. And after all you can see the VSTi doesn't have the SC88 either & also fell to GS. But still works the same, maybe because GS is based on it. idk.

I don't need to test any of them again with SomethingUnreal's BaWaMi anymore, coz we already know it supports these 2 animation canvas, no need to contest again. Although to be clear it got no VSTi support, coz yeah that's a fat chance having such support library with Visual Basic, for now.. I think he should make again ground up with JUCE C++, what do you think? let us know in the comments down bellow.

Also obviously it lacks XG, coz.. yeah.. whatever, it's Yamaha's, Roland couldn't care more with that, coz they got GS, it's their prestige on their own. You use which of these VSTi's accordingly.

Finally Finally, IT HAS DIGITAL RESTRICTION MANAGEMENT. Oh yess, here we go again. Think you can have it all offline? Maybe & to less likely. But what if sometimes it needs to be rechecked again, due to lost cache of verification somehow? I think the VSTi would die, begging for internet access only to make sure you paid for it. Shoot forgor to screenshot, But I saw there is Option menu says Authentication, meaning that yeah. Make sure your Roland Cloud account is available & logged in, idk. Which explains why on the sparsdated version you would get the sketchy cloud simulator alongside it. Don't ask me how I know this, it's X0p1r4t3 secret. .. Okay, not so secret, you'll find it yourself if you wish to find so.

Right, the Positive.

Unfortunately, not much. In my opinion it sounds like what Windows should've had. A Tin Can GS Wavetable, but with steroid ever used illegally on an Olympic event. I mean, not that interesting to me, because I already grown with Yamaha. All the sound, it's there since my early days. Won't be able to be moved to another. Got to be the better ones, I tested it & works, but not to other brand.

Heh. I buy this actually because.. yeah, SomethingUnreal MIDIs works well exclusively on that SC88Pro. SF2, or anything else don't work & is horrible. Must be SC88Pro or better SC8820. Which is OUTRAGEOUS!!! How do we supposed to acquire such thing from Pawn Shop, it's a relic item! But you see, Roland heard us, not like Yamaha. At least they gave us this digital remake out of all these so we could replicate how would Robbi-985 enjoys his MIDIs. Not perfect, but at least sounds acceptable & similar with his renders.

Yeah. that's it all.
