Stop the Wyckoff Township Committee from moving the Board of Education Election to April

Stop the Wyckoff Township Committee from moving the Board of Education Election to April
The Issue
The Wyckoff Township Committee has proposed moving the Board of Education election to April in an effort to control that independent nonpartisan authority.
A separate special election will cost Wyckoff taxpayers approximately $100,000, a cost that will be absorbed from school budgets. This unnecessary expenditure will be taking money from our children's education at a time when it is paramount that our dollars are spent to give our kids every resource possible. This is being done at a time when we should be most concerned about our children's physical well being, mental health, and safe in-person instruction.
Only 12 NJ school districts hold their school elections in April. Data has consistently shown that holding the election on the third Tuesday of April - often a school break week in Wyckoff - yields a low voter turnout.
Moreover, if the TC is attempting this power grab to control the school budget, remember that Wyckoff BOE has consistently held the school budget within a 2% increase and this year, will be returning money to taxpayers because of bond refinancing.
Why are they doing it? Control not Transparency. Tell the Wyckoff Township Committee you oppose this maneuver!
