WSU ICE Policy

The Issue

On February 03, students at Wright State University will walk out simultaneously in solidarity with students and communities under the Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) militarized occupation of Minneapolis. This walkout responds to a national call to action from communities resisting ICE. We see the horrific violence ICE has waged on communities across the country. Our university must proactively protect students.

We’re organizing to keep ICE out for good, because campus should be a place of justice, compassion, and learning with safety and freedom for all people. We call on our university leadership to protect at-risk groups (African, Latiné, international students), reject collaboration with ICE, and establish clear emergency protocols outlined in our demands below.

We demand the following from Wright State University:

Inform the public of the policy of Wright State University towards ICE, either through email or a website page.

Publicly state that ICE is not welcome on campus.

Refuse all data sharing with ICE that is not legally mandated, protect private information of students and staff to the fullest extent of the law.

Treat the presence of ICE on campus as a CRITICAL emergency, where all students will receive an OHIO Alert emergency alert through the established system.

Deny ICE entry to campus buildings.

Refuse to sign the 287(g) agreement that deputizes campus police as immigration enforcement.

The following students, faculty, staff, and community members have signed in
