As we mentioned in our Behind-the-scenes-part 1 post, pushing for a nationwide animal welfare law is always very difficult and takes time. Much more so in an authoritarian system. But there are other things we can do.

Last week in Guangzhou, China, a local dog-lover saw an ad from a restaurant promoting a dog meat dish pop up on the DouYin (Chinese's Tictok) channel (see photo). He contacted Duo Duo Project's Guangzhou team.

Our team leader, Mr. Qiang, contacted the ChenQuan (street police) and local activists that live close by to go check out that restaurant.

ChenQuan (street police) gave the restaurant owner a warning and told the owner that he will be fined and maybe do some jail time if he ever gets caught selling dog meat. The dog meat dish ad was removed from the DouYin (Chinese's Tictok) right away.

Our donors' generous donations allow us to hire experts to give our team members in China crucial legal knowledge to deal with cases like this. They are not as exciting as stopping a dog meat truck but we believe they greatly further our movement.
