Legislation is one prong of Duo Duo Project's 3 pronged approaches to end the Dog and Cat Meat Trade: Education, Legislation, and Spay-and-Neuter.
We are very glad to see a conference held on April 11th, 2021 in Beijing, China to announce the official establishment of the Office of Companion Animal Protection Volunteers. Many deputies to the National People’s Congress have attended and spoken out.
They urged the Chinese government to start implementing an anti-cruelty law to protect animals as the first step and move toward making China a better place for companion animals as the next step. (more details: https://www.worlddogalliance.org/china-spotlight-3/
We believe even if it wasn’t necessarily a government-sponsored event, any voice pushing for legislation helps the movement to end the dog and cat meat trade. And it can be measured as progress and a sign of hope. Thank you.
