Would you please take 5 mins to complete the Survey on the library being knocked down at a cost of £4.2m and erecting a building in it's place with 3 more cafes and office space.
The library is proposed to be moved to the Town Hall at a further cost of £5.2m through the sale of Redditch Borough Council community assets, such as Community House, Easemore Rd and the sale of other council land, therefore bringing the total cost to nearly £10m.
The reports say even after selling off these Council Assets - it would likely not raise enough funds for the Town Hall Library Project, meaning even more valuable Community assets would need to be sold. There is also a concern that there isn't enough space for the full relocation of the Archives and the plan is to relocate "some" of them to The Hive at Worcester, thereby denying the residents and visitors to Redditch access to it's rightful history.
It is very important that as many people as possible get involved and fill in the consultation. It is in various languages and also can be obtained in paper form from RedditchLibraryConsultation@worcestershire.gov.uk or visit the Redditch Town Library itself
