Help Community Cats

Help Community Cats
The Issue
Calling all concerned citizens of Worcester County & surrounding areas:
Please sign the petition to save the community cats in the marina area of Ocean Pines! The Yacht Club cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated & part of a managed colony. In the VERY near future, the cats are scheduled to be trapped by Animal Control & destroyed.
Once these cats are in the custody of Worcester County Animal Control, more likely than not, they will be deemed unadoptable & killed. All community/feral cats in the county are in danger of this same fate! This is an unnecessary waste of taxpayers’ money to trap & euthanize the cats. It is an unnecessary waste of volunteers’ (who trapped & transported the cats) time & money. It is an unnecessary waste of time & labor & money of the clinic that altered the cats.
What about predation? Please read the article by Alley Cat Allies regarding the truth about what community/feral cats really eat & why removing them isn’t a good idea.
https://www.alleycat.org/resources/biology-and-behavior-of-the-cat/
Why retain community cats? Please read the article by Alley Cat Rescue regarding the many benefits of community cats.
http://www.saveacat.org/benefits-of-feral-cats.html
Do community cats really make a difference? Community cats, as well as many other “nuisance” animals, have a part in the natural order. Please read the article by World Animal Foundation regarding community/feral cats.
We need your help to save the Yacht Club cats & all community cats in our area! It is time to get the laws of Worcester County amended to protect community cats from systematic extermination.
What can you do? Please sign our petition!
We thank you & the cats would too, if they could.
