Petition updateFor Linton Pet Shop in Hare Hatch NOT to be issued a licence to sell puppiesFACT - NO MEETINGS HELD BY THE COUNCIL!!!
Puppy Petition
Mar 14, 2016
It was clarified by Robert Flello, MP following the discussion in parliament in 2014 that councils have the right and power to amend pet shop licences so that they don’t include the sale of puppies, yet again, they won’t consider this. We would be happy with a decision to amend the licence with effect from December 2016, which would give plenty of notice to Linton. Despite over 15,100 signatures on the petition to ask Wokingham Council not to issue a licence for Linton Pet Shop to sell puppies, they haven’t even considered the issue. As you can see from the following Freedom of Information request there have been NO meetings held: “RE: Freedom of Information Request Ref No: 7374 Thank you for your recent communication, please find detailed below the information in response to your request. 1. I am writing to request minutes of all the meetings in 2015 and 2016 during which the pet shop licence for Linton Pet Shop in Hare Hatch was discussed. -Linton Pet Shop has held a licence for some years. These licences are renewable every year effective from 1 January for the full calendar year. Where the Council is satisfied that a pet shop has fulfilled the conditions of the licence for the previous year, an applications is made with the appropriate fee, then subject to a satisfactory inspection by an experienced licensing officer, the licence is re issued. There are therefore no meetings to discuss the issue of the licence and thus no minutes. This concludes our formal response to your request. If you are dissatisfied with our response, you can request for it to be reviewed by contacting the Council’s Legal Services at Wokingham Borough Council via; Information Services, Civic Offices, Shute End, Wokingham, RG40 1BN, or e-mailing [Wokingham Borough Council request email] detailing the reasons why you are dissatisfied with the response. Please address your correspondence to Shared Legal Solutions. Requests not resolved at that stage can be escalated to the Information Commissioner at: Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF.
