The WNBA is more than just a league; it is a source of inspiration, empowerment, and joy for countless fans across the entire country. Watching these incredibly talented athletes perform at the highest level is such a thrill, and it is amazing to witness the growth and increased attention the league is receiving. However, with this attention comes a critical need to uphold the integrity and quality of the game through consistent, fair, and transparent officiating.

Unfortunately, countless games in recent years have been marred by inconsistent officiating, leaving fans frustrated and many players suffering injuries. Currently, there is a lack of uniform standards and accountability for referees. In a league that champions equality and excellence, it's essential to ensure that all games are officiated with the highest standards of professionalism.

We call upon the WNBA Commissioner to implement reforms that establish comprehensive training programs for referees, ensuring they are well-versed in the nuances of WNBA basketball. Establishing a robust system for evaluating referee performance and accountability is crucial to ensuring the officiating meets the skill level in the WNBA. We also propose the creation of a process where evaluations and decisions are reviewed in a timely manner with league oversight during games (similar to the NBA). Additionally, we encourage the WNBA and its owners to be more receptive to concerns about officiating by coaches and players. 

We understand these things come at a financial cost, but we believe it is the appropriate investment for player safety, enjoyment of the fans and continued growth of the league. 

As fans and supporters of the WNBA, we stand with our coaches and teams in a collective request for change.
