Wisconsin Stands For Public Lands!

The Issue

Senator Mike Lee from Utah recently introduced a proposal to the Senate Reconciliation Bill that would have put between 2 and 3.3 million acres of public land up for sale. These lands would have been selected from a pool of 250 million acres across 11 western states. Senator Lee stated that this land would be used for affordable housing and represents only 0.5 percent of all federally owned land. While half a percent may sound small, it's actually about the size of Connecticut. Additionally, these lands allow hunters, fishermen, hikers, campers, and people from all walks of life to experience America's natural beauty.

Although Wisconsin may not currently be at risk, if we as conservationists do not stand up for our fellow citizens, the animals of our great country, and our heritage, we may soon see our own federal lands in the north woods face a similar fate. Please sign this petition to bring this to the attention of Senators Johnson and Baldwin, as well as all our congresspeople, demonstrating that Wisconsin is against Senator Mike Lee’s proposal and any language in the budget bill that includes the sale of public lands. This is not a Republican or Democrat issue; it's an American issue.

 Not. One. Acre.
