Multiple EXPOSURE but, not once . . . . .Offered a prophylaxis Antibiotic 1st infected in 1991 in North-Western Wisconsin. 1999 E.R. visit for stroke-like symptoms with an Emergency E.R. MRI later with all the signs of Neurological Lyme Disease. Only given the basic ELISA test once and NOT surprisingly showed negative in 2013 after smoldering in my body for 22 years. The test was given after countless MRIs, Severe Neck Pain, Chronic Headaches, Ptosis, 3 surgeries, and a 4 day Hospital Admission for an E.M. (target) rash on my face diagnosed as just Cellulitis in 2008. In January 2015, I happily agreed to a cervical facet joint injection with steroid hoping that would be the end of my suffering. How wrong I was; that one procedure put me into a state of unofficial disability with constant pain, heart palpitation, significant fatigue, intractable neck and head pain. It's 2016; and still MD's in the Fox Valley deny, deflect, defer and don't want to touch cases like this. I wonder just how many have taken a CME Course on Tick-Borne Illnesses? Our state is near the bottom of 50 States and only requires 15 Continuing Education hours per year. My story is not unique, "Zika Talk" in Wisconsin is being used as a smoke screen until the STATE figures out who is going to pay for and treat the mass epidemic steam rolling WISCONSIN.
