Wirral Council had a scheme for retirees from the council - Passport for Life – A Retirement Gift In Respect Of Long Service with Metropolitan Borough Of Wirral. After a recent Cabinet decision,  the scheme has been withdrawn.  It displays the insensitivity and inconsideration of the Cabinet and particularly those who instigated this proposal in the first instance, also it reflects how the decision makers, in this instance, view ex-employees and more importantly the elderly. To withdraw this gift after such a long time will have devastating effects on a lot of retiree’s lives.
