Great news!! The Council passed yesterday in first reading the BAN for Plastic Straws in KB

Great News, yesterday the Council of KB, passed the first ordinance to BAN PLASTIC STRAWS in KB- “ Business Regulations “ of the Village code of ordinances to include section 7-4, “Prohibition on distribution, sale, or use of plastic straws". The Council banned Straws in the first reading, the second reading of the ordinance will be August 26. After a beautiful introduction from Rachel Silverstein and an amazing presentation from Kelly Cox- Miami Waterkeeper and also an amazing explanation from Luisa Montano-Planet Patrol, The council discussed the plastic situation, talked about their will to make the change regarding plastic bags and even brought awareness for their own daily routine related to plastic bottles. It was very beautiful to see Mayor Lindsay and all Council Members embracing a green attitude and environmental awareness. In the end Mayor Lindsay kindly came to talk to our group, it was a unique moment full of gratitude and happinness.
