The TN Historical Commission (THC) heard Williamson County's Petition for Declaratory Order, in which Williamson County argued the county seal is not a memorial, as defined by the TN Heritage Protection Act.  The THC voted unanimously in agreement, which means the TN Heritage Protection Act does not apply to our county seal, and the THC does not have to give permission via a waiver for the county to alter the county seal and remove a flag of the Confederacy.  Pending any appeal, this means Williamson County is free to make changes without permission from any other governing body or commission.
