KENDALL COUNTY COMMITS FIRST LOCAL DOLLARS TO SH 46 WEST SAFETY PROJECT

A significant milestone to share today.

On September 8, the Kendall County Commissioners Court adopted the FY 2027 budget, which includes a $100,000 allocation toward the safety improvements planned for State Highway 46 West.

Commissioner Jennifer McCall (Precinct 1) advocated for the inclusion of this funding as part of the County's ongoing commitment to improving safety along the SH 46 West corridor. This is the first local dollars behind the funded safety project, and it is a real demonstration of how seriously Kendall County takes the safety of the families who travel this road every day.

The allocation was reached through a direct partnership between TxDOT and Commissioner McCall. The funding will support the safety improvements planned for Webster's Corner — the site of some of the most severe crashes on the corridor — including the concrete barriers, crash cushions, pavement widening, and guard fence work at that curve. It is a direct, meaningful contribution to infrastructure that will save lives, and it reflects a real partnership between Kendall County and TxDOT to make this road safer.

• TxDOT itself has publicly acknowledged the environmental clearance is tracking ahead of schedule
• And now, Kendall County and TxDOT have partnered on the first local dollars behind the project

The momentum behind this is real. And it is real because of every one of you who has signed, shared, and stood together for the safety of this road.
