KENDALL COUNTY VOTED YES. BOTH COUNTIES ARE NOW ON RECORD.

This morning, April 28, 2026, the Kendall County Commissioners Court unanimously passed Resolution No. R-20260428, formally requesting TxDOT to address roadway safety on SH 46 West.

Both counties sharing this corridor — Bandera and Kendall — have now officially demanded TxDOT act with a committed plan and real timelines.

This happened because of you.

When we launched this petition on March 25, we had a community of people who knew this road was dangerous and a belief that if enough voices came together, something would move. In 34 days here is what this community accomplished:

— TxDOT publicly committed $7 million in federal funding for intersection upgrades and confirmed a feasibility study is underway for a potential four-lane divided highway

— Bandera County passed a unanimous resolution on April 9 declaring this road totally inadequate

— Kendall County passed a unanimous resolution this morning with specific deadlines for TxDOT — a joint safety meeting as soon as practicable, a public stakeholder meeting, intermediate plans by October 31, and long-term plans by January 31, 2027

— Senator Campbell, Senator Flores, Representative Troxclair, and Representative Virdell are all engaged

— Four news outlets — Texas Public Radio, KENS 5, the Bandera Prophet, and the Boerne Star — have covered this story

— 1,100 of you signed this petition and told TxDOT that this community is watching

The fight is not over. The resolutions are demands — not solutions. The four-lane divided highway is still not funded. Physical barriers at the documented kill zones have not been installed. People still drive this road every day with nothing between them and oncoming traffic except a painted yellow line.

But today, for the first time, every mile of SH 46 West is covered by a formal government mandate. TxDOT must now respond to both counties — in writing, with specifics, and on a timeline.

Keep sharing. Keep pushing. The road does not fix itself — but moments like today are how it starts.
