We’ve just reached 150 signatures, and I want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who has taken the time to sign and share the petition! Your support is making a real difference in showing that property owners are not willing to accept unfair heritage listings without consent.
This growing number shows how important this issue is to all of us, and together we are building momentum for change.
What’s Next:

2. Stay Tuned for Submission Info: We’ll keep you updated on the Dunedin City Council’s submission process as soon as we have more details. When the submission period opens, we’ll provide guidance on how you can participate and have your voice heard.
3. A New Section Has Been Added: We’ve also added some new points to the petition to address the broader concerns around how councils can misuse their power to heritage list properties without facing any cost or responsibility. These updates also explain how many other councils in New Zealand, like Hurunui and Waitaki, already require owner consent for heritage listings, which is a far fairer and more balanced approach.

Thank you once again for your incredible support, and let’s keep pushing for a fairer system that respects property rights and community well-being.
