The Situation Worsens: Sign The Petition For Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement in Vermont

Justice For All
Jul 22, 2016
A report released this month by Ashley Nellis of the Sentencing project, placed Vermont at number one in the nation at a rate of 1 in 14 African American males in State Prison. The report of Dr Jack McDevett of Northestern University as well as the report of Stepahanie Seguino of UVM indicate that in the past five years the situation in Vermont has actually worsened concerning racial disparities in traffic stops and searches by State, Burlington, South Burlington, Winooski and UVM police. Meanwhile, Alton Sterling and Philando Castile are killed by those sworn to serve and protect them and police are ambushed and killed from Dallas to Baton Rouge. If there was ever a time that we needed civilian oversight, it would be now.
