Where Has All the Money Gone? Demand Accountability in American Education

Where Has All the Money Gone? Demand Accountability in American Education
The Issue
We are students, parents, teachers, taxpayers, and employers.
And we are done pretending everything is fine in American education.
The Truth:
U.S. schools spend over $17,000 per student — yet literacy and math scores are at 20-year lows
More than 50% of adults read below a 6th-grade level
College readiness is a lie: most high school grads can’t write a basic essay or manage a bank account
Bureaucrats get raises. Kids get
We Demand:
Back to Basics:
Reading by 3rd grade. Arithmetic by middle school.
No more tech fads. Teach the fundamentals — and teach them well.
Transparency & Accountability:
Publish school-level data on reading, math, attendance, and funding.
Stop hiding failure behind averages.
Fund Classrooms, Not Consultants:
End wasteful spending on glossy programs and bloated administrations.
Get money into teacher salaries, textbooks, and student support.
Real Parent Power:
Parents deserve visibility and voice in curriculum and school culture.
No more gatekeeping or gaslighting.
Career & Life Readiness by Graduation:
Teach financial literacy. Offer real vocational pathways.
Graduation should mean something again.
Our Message to the System:
You had decades.
You failed millions of kids.
You spent trillions with no return.
We will not stand by while another generation is failed by design.
Sign this petition if you’re ready to demand results — not just rhetoric.
This isn’t left or right. It’s right or wrong.
Fix the system or step aside.
Next Steps:
With enough signatures, we will:
Submit this petition to the U.S. Department of Education, Congress, and every state board of education
Send letters to every major school district with local statistics and demands
