We, the community and employees in and around Wheatsville Food Co-op call for the immediate resignation of Chief Executive Grocer, Dan Gillotte after his racist and non-inclusive views have been brought to light.

Through his public YouTube channel his stereotypical views towards people of color were made aware to the collective at large via his video entitled "Condoms over Combs" (now deleted in attempted "damage control"). Filled with dog whistles and subtle discrimination, we are collectively ashamed to be represented by such a leader.

Our trust has been broken completely and our vision of the future of a transformed society, completely  rid of these unacceptable stances, is in severe jeopardy so long as he holds his station (and seemingly secret attitudes towards our minority comrades.) There is no rebuilding the trustworthiness that he has thrown away with reckless abandon. 

Since the responsible party refuses to take the dignified action of stepping down, we are calling upon the people to demand his immediate resignation and NOTHING LESS.

We live in a era when even our world leaders get by with racist beliefs, but we refuse to let such abborance plague our community here.

We need new leadership that can uphold the Co-op's principles of self help, self responsibility, democracy, equality, equity, solidarity, honesty, openness, social responsibility, and caring for others. We do not want closed, back door meetings, full of placation and scripted, private, non-genuine apology (and certainly not through a messenger service). We call for immediate action and our voices MUST be heard.

WE ARE THE FRIENDLIEST STORE IN TOWN AND THIS HATE WILL NOT STAND!
