Dear Supporters,

We want to thank each and every one of you for signing our petition to support African and international students who fled Ukraine in the wake of Russia's invasion. Your support has been crucial, and we are grateful for your willingness to stand with us during this difficult time.

However, we write to you today to express our disappointment that one year after the invasion, very little has changed for many African and international students who fled the war. Despite the scholarships and support packages that have been put in place for Ukrainian refugees, non-Ukrainian students have been denied equal support, and most of us have been unable to continue our education. Many students have been forced to leave the countries they fled to within the next month, leaving them with very few options.

As we approach 35,000 signatures on our petition, we are urging you to continue to share it with your family, friends, and networks. Every signature counts, and your help is needed to get the attention of key organizations and governments who have the power to help us.

We are calling on UNESCO, the Global Education Coalition, the European Commission, universities in Europe, Britain, the Irish States, Canada, the United States, and all countries and organizations that care about education to put in place a support package and scholarships for African students whose studies have been disrupted by the war in Ukraine so that we can continue with and finish our studies. We also ask Ukrainian universities to grant African students access to university places on the same terms as their Ukrainian counterparts and to make it easier for students to transfer.

Finally, we urge the Ukrainian Ministry of Education to cancel the Krok 2 exam due to Ukraine being an active war zone. This is a matter of life and death, and we cannot be forced to renounce our legal rights in case of harm.

We need your help to make our voices heard. Please continue to share our petition, and let's get to 50,000 signatures. Together, we can make a difference.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

African students who fled Ukraine
