What is HOPE? Early intervention for bullies.

What is HOPE? Early intervention for bullies.
The Issue
I experienced bullying as a child, and the pain I endured was not just physical, but emotional. My older brother Marcos broke a glass bottle on my head when I was 18 years old because I stayed quiet during one of his fits.. My earliest encounter with Marcos' bullying when I was 6 years old.
Today, he suffers the consequences of a life uncorrected; under the "care" of our father: Marcos has no teeth and has been a victim of abuse himself. It is devastating to see how children who display early signs of aggression do not receive timely intervention. Marcos deserved love, attention and the right program to correct his behavior. But Marcos today looks like a homeless person with no cognitive ability. He has been disabled, by a system that failed him..
30% of children who exhibit bullying behavior have a criminal record by their early 30s. Without proper intervention, these early signs of aggression can lead to persistent problems in behavior and a vicious cycle of abuse that tilts over as a public safety issue.
Intervention for all school aged children -flagged as bullies- is necessary and it should be mandatory.
A well-structured program is necessary not only to curb harmful behaviors, but also to address root family causes and thus provide healing and rehabilitation.
Help us bring this program to live.
