Petition updateWeymouth Quay Heritage CampaignURGENT ANNOUNCEMENT: A One Time Opportunity To Save the Tramway

Sorry about not posting much, the truth is nothing much has really happened. It has now been 3 years since I started this campaign, and lately, for about a year and a half, there has not been an opportunity to move things forward... until now. I have been working with Weyforward and others for the past month to create a planning proposal to go head to head with the councils plan to redevelop the peninsula area to a dull hotel area. Alongside me, an average teenager, are people high up in the industry from tech designers to property developers. We have had 2 meetings to share our views on the councils plans and to create a better plan that will be much more beneficial. In early 2018, the council announced their plans to change the rundown peninsula on the harbour and rebuild the area to include hotels and car parks. After having a public meeting, a vast majority of the locals disagreed with the councils proposals highly, and ever since people have not stopped talking about the big mistake which the council is about to make. https://www.dorsetforyou.gov.uk/business-consumers-licences/economic-development/weymouth-peninsula-development.aspx After the meeting I took the opportunity of putting forward a proposal to bring down some railway carriages to the harbourside and creating a business opportunity out of them. This will keep the heritage of the railway whilst adding a useful opportunity to house a business, whether its a restraint or an art gallery. https://www.facebook.com/WeymouthHeritage/posts/2145674935668772 After receiving a huge amount of support from locals, the council didn't respond like usual, and I soon got involved with Weyforward when they put on a few meetings for locals to discuss about the council's ludicrous plans. Here's where we need YOU The council's planning application has only 900 votes to pass through the proposal stages, which will go through on the 8th of July. To over-ride the councils plans and stop them in their tracks, WE NEED YOU TO VOTE FOR OUT PLANNING APPLICATION. Due to the very limited amount of time and lots to do within it, there isn't a set plan to go by, however by voting our planning application, the council's plan will be stopped and then we can work with the council to make a better plan, not just for tourism, but for the locals and local history, including the tramway. Please click the link below, and VOTE FOR THE COMMUNITY'S VISION next to the councils. we need 1,000 votes in 8 days, and I'm counting on YOU to help us make it. If this planning application over-rides the councils, then there will be a BIG CHANCE THAT WE WILL SAVE THE TRAMWAY. https://weymouthvisionvote.yrpri.org/group/1606 You can press the thumbs up to vote, and even add a comment why you want to choose the community's vision, from disagreeing with the councils plans to suggesting what you would like to see developed on this location. It would also help to thumbs down the councils idea. At the meetings, I presented my proposal to the number of high end figures and Weyforward Team, and I received a massive amount of support and was told that my railway carriage idea will be taken seriously and WILL be in the planning application. Other ideas and proposals that will be considered are: * A large all-weather building * Underground Parking (No overground space wasted) * 'Step walls' across the harbour walls leading down to the water * A community share-space * A greenery for all sorts of entertainment (Live music events for example) And so much more can be added and discussed if we get at least 1,000 votes. So please, not just to save the harbour tramway, but to save the Weymouth peninsula and we can give you something better. More content will be added to the voting page in the next few days but I need to share this so we have a solid WEEK to beat the council. Thank you ever so much, It's been 3 years and I'm still getting new signatures every day, I can't thank you enough for your support.
