Save North Quay

Any doubts about the Council's competence and Acorn's reliability should now be dispelled by the news that Acorn have failed to complete on the sale. This ought to be good news since it might open the possibility that the Council could get out of this sale and find a more professional and reliable developer – and maybe even a better price. However Cllr Cant seems determined that the Council should press ahead with the sale. The Council's Management Committee will discuss this issue at their next meeting which is at 9.30am next Tuesday, 15 August in the Council Chamber on Commercial Road. While the meeting is open to the public, the Committee intend to exclude the public and press from this agenda item on the basis of commercial sensitivity. We believe that it is overwhelmingly in the Public Interest that this matter is discussed openly. We would urge anyone who feels strongly about this issue to attend the meeting and to make their views known to the Committee in the public participation which takes place at the start of the meeting.
